To the respected President of the Eastern Pearl beloved mother Philippines, President Benigno "noynoy" Aquino, Greetings Sir!
I am a Filipino Youth and a native Ilocana. Respectfully blogging my thoughts about what my naked eyes see around me. Let me share some of my stories. Theres this church somewhere in Ilocos where i used to attend mass every sunday. I always encounter a little boy who i think is a beggar. His clothes were rugged and tattered and his slippers were already over-used and its already unable to be weared. Mud all over his feet and only by looking into his young eyes, i can see the burden inside him. Whenever he sees me, he used to call me "Manang bassit nga nakabrace!" or in english "small lad with braces!" then im also used to look back at him because i know that im the one he is calling for. He always smile at me then run away. Then one sunday, I met him again, he again called me the way he used to. He tried to run away but i held his hand. I tried to talk to him. I asked him whats his name, he replied "Amboy". If how old is he, he said 9. I also asked him if where were his parents, he said that he only have his mother who he calls "nanang". His father passed away 6 years from now. I asked him if what is he doing at the church, he said the he is helping his mother to earn money for their daily living. In short, "begging". At his young age he should be learning at school now and not trying to work finding ways to live. He should not be wearing tattered and rugged clothes, over-used slippers but rather a nice school uniform and shoes. He should not be using his eyes, his hands, and his ears by begging but rather reading, listening and holding a pencil while writing. I really pity this little boy, while comparing my self to him. If how lucky am i to have both mother and father. Using presentable clothes and entering a school.
Its really hard to accept the fact that some or mostly of the filipino children are just like him. Working at a young age and no education at all. If we really think about this, we can never really say that Philippines is progressing. If only this children were given the right love ang care that they must feel and have, then maybe it will be eassier for us to tell the our country is already moving forward.
Well, this filipino children are the next filipino youth that will serve as the new hope of the country. I know Sir that you are doing your very best and giving your efforts to help every filipino citizen. I just hope that maybe, just maybe, Ill never see again a little child begging around but rather entering a school. I idolize you and the Aquino Family. More powers! Thank You Sir!
How a sad story. Well, I like your letter. I was touched. You're letter was not only for our President but for all of us, Filipinos also.Job well done my dear. Have a nice day Keep up the good work!!.

ReplyDeleteAs i make my way through your post, you talked about the little boy's problems, materially speaking, his less fortunate, but I promptly got curios if he also lacks love from his parents too. His poor, but right now, if love is all he has, he should temporarily be contented, and make the most of what he has. One strong point i read was education.
ReplyDeleteAnd you pointed out that our country is yet a developed country, i may agree, but it is already progressing.
But for me k12 is already a big start for our country in improving education..
I commend you for noticing the little child's problem.
not everything can happen in just a blink of an eye, wait for big things because big things take time.
:) good work on your letter, keep it going:)
love you roxanne, miss you:)
nice work my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteYour title really caught my interest. as i read your letter i felt sad because of the child. is it really true or you just make it up to wake up the minds of our fellow men, but i really like how the way wrote it. Your letter touched my heart. i love the way you composed it and i hope that our honorable president can read this post.
ReplyDelete, keep it up roxxie, i lilily love it,
Hi Roxanne!
ReplyDeleteI was touched on your letter. As students, we are all concern on our education here in the country. In your story, it's really a big problem that there are so many children working at their young age to help their parent/s for their daily needs. Instead of studying for their future, they work.
Good job my friend... Keep up the good work! :->
care? love? i think the boy who you used to hang out with, is maybe less fortunate by now, but... is it right to blame our president for that? I know your point is not to blame him but to request for him but seeing your letter seems to be blaming him and his responsible to provide for him himself. i know that we are the responsible of our dear president, but people have their own businesses and own minds and even egos. if their minds and our president's will not match, then there will be no progress for us. our president is our leader, and to be a progressive person we should be a good follower to the programs he have for us.
ReplyDeletelet me tell you one thing, maybe that boy was already issued for some orphanage programs but who knows if he rejected right? it happens most if others want to have their own freedom and instead of their good future, if they tolerate these manners there will always be a beggar asking for your alms.
by the way, its a nice letter, watch out for your spellings and punctuation. be more strong and keep going.
hi baByranne :D
ReplyDeleteAs I read your post I was awaken by that little boy because of his story. I like your untouchable post . And I,as a student I would like that our President must be focus on these experience of yours.Because a lot of young children that do not have education. I enjoy reading your post and I hope President will read this.
imissyouuu baBy :D
thanks for the comments and corrections :)) by the way which of them were misspelled?thanks :))
ReplyDeleteHi bhez! I was touched by your sympathy to that youth. That child is really a very unfortunate one. I think your goal in giving your plea to the president is letting him know many filipino youth have a bad situation however the situation you gave shouldn't be told to the president for it is the responsibility of their parents. I think that the parents are the ones responsible with them Dont take it seriously bhez, just giving my insights and opinions.

ReplyDeleteby the way mr. angelo, im not blaming our honoroble president but rather NOTIFYING Him. as a leader to his country, He should know what is happening around Him or to the filipino people. are you really sure that every single less fortunate filipino child was issued to orphanage programs? and define orphanage? ill answer my own question, orphanage is residential institution that cares for orphans (CHILDREN WHO HAVE NO PARENTS). did i mention that the boy is already an orphan so that he will be issued to an orphanage program? he has his mother. think about it mr angelo.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS FOR YOUR OPINION, IM REALLY SORRY FOR MY SPELLINGS AND PUNCTUATIONS (typographical errors due to fast typing, hoping for your consideration).
